The Balance Benefits Group (BBG) Bulldogs and The Snug kicked off their seasons with a hard fought game filled with good pitching and defense along clutch hitting. The BBG Bulldogs prevailed 4-2. The Snug was led by an excellent pitching performance by the hard throwing Greg Williamson and the excellent defense (1st inning defensive gem) and hitting by Jack Santilli. The BBG Bulldogs were paced by Chris Grant's 1st inning home run blast and the smooth pitching performances of Grant, Jack Donius and Bennett Lemansky. B. Lemanski scored 2 of the BBG's 4 runs. Max MacCullom made a clutch catch in deep left center field to prevent several runs from scoring. On a cold and wet Hersey Field, the Old Derby Dirt Dogs showed that they liked to play in the mud as they defeated the Balanced Benefits Group. The Dirt Dogs, led by pitchers Will Pellissier (9 strikeouts in 3 innings) and Stephen Cochrane (8 strikeouts and a sparkling defensive unassisted putout) battled a very tough BBG team. Fifth inning rbi's from Jack Murphy and Mats Thureson helped the Dogs take the lead for good. Balanced Benefits were led by pitchers Chris Grant, Jack Donius and Bennett Lemanski who turned away several Old Derby rallies. The SportsCenter defensive play of the game was turned in by BBG third baseman Max Slane who took a bad hop to the throat, calmly stayed with it and gunned the ball to first to just beat a speedy Owen Pelissier. The Hingham Jewelers squad mounted a furious 6-run rally in the top of the 5th inning to tie the score 9-9. Hingham Jeweler's Bob Beane blasted a fastball over the left fielder's head for a clutch, bases clearing, 3-run triple and Jackson Bennis followed this up with a bases clearing 2-run triple. The gritty Balanced Benefits Group would not give in though and rallied in the bottom of the 6th to load the bases. The game was won on Mike Nash's keen hitting eye resulting in a game winning RBI walk. The BBG team was paced by the hot bats of Ryan Reagan, Jack Donius, Chris Grant Bennett Lemanski and Max Slane - all with 2 hits a piece. Chris MacDonald's scorching line drive in the bottom of the second resulted in an RBI and rally. Max Slane made several terrific stops at 3rd base by keeping his glove down and staying in front of some hot shot ground balls. Jack Donius provided BBG with a stellar performance at the plate and on the mound making big pitches when he had to pitching deep into the 4th inning. WOW !!! A great baseball game was played today under blue skies and warm breezes. Team Coca-Cola started off strong scoring 4 runs early but Balanced Benefits Group stormed back tying the score at 4-4. Chris Grant and Bennett Lemanski from Balanced Benefits Group led the offensive charge with some great hits. Balanced Benefits Group also kept the game close with some strong infield defensive plays, almost turning the 6-4-3 double play (very impressive). Team Coca-Cola played their best game of the year with Cameron Baker turning in two ESPN Web gems in the field. John Donahue had the game winning hit driving in 2 runs in the bottom of the fifth. Andrew Brazel pitched well for Team Coke with Ryan Swanson performing well out of the bullpen. Matt "Speedy" Dwyer also had a great game scoring one run on aggressive base running. |

It looks like the fielding is really developed nicely for both teams. Two stellar defensive plays by BB's Jack Donius who turned a double play with Mike Ferrara and made a diving pop-up grab as catcher. Carousel had an unbelievable throw to first for the out -from centerfield by Patrick McGeoghegan. The J. Forbes to F. Forbes infield play accounted forat least three outs. Great job in his first pitching outing for Max McCollum. Great starting pitching by J Lemanski and Colin Flibotte. Great hits by John Gillig, Michael Saleski & Ryan McInnis. Another great game was played between these two baseball teams. Coca-Cola went down 1-0 in the first inning but rallied for 5 runs with some great hitting by Cameron Baker, Ryan Swanson, Jared D'Entremont and Matt Dwyer (2 RBI's). Davis Goode pitched 3 strong innings giving up one run for Team Coca-Cola. Balanced Benefits fought back into the game with some aggressive swings at the plate in the fifth inning. They scored 3 runs in the fifth with great hits by B Lemanski, Ferrara, a triple by J. Lemanski and a timely single by J.Gillig. Team Coca-Cola bounced back producing a key run in the bottom of the fifth which would prove to be the game winner. Davis Goode had a single, driving in John Donahue for the 6th and final run for Team Coca-Cola. Balanced Benefits went to work in the top of the sixth putting runners on base and scoring one run. Andrew Brazel pitched well down the stretch and was able to get final out with bases loaded in what turned out to be a very exciting / well played baseball game.
