D.A. Timothy Cruz 1 vs. The Snug 7 Minor League Hingham - Haley Field Sun, Jun 10, 3:00 PM
The opening round of the play-offs featured a classic battle between two teams that battled to a 5-5 tie extra inning game in the regular season. This game lived up to all the hype because both teams came to play and left it all on the field. The Cruz Diamonds scored 1st in their half of inning # 1 off of a base hit by Carr and a triple by Barret. The Snug's ace Greg "Big W' Williamson was not fazed and struck out an incredible 11 out of 15 batters to face him. Cruz Diamonds ace Carr was not to be out done as he kept The Snug Half Pints scoreless for 4 innings helped by brilliant fielding, Jack Diamonds play at 2nd base in the 1st spoiled a potential Snug Rally.
The Snug bats came alive in the 4th which started with a double from Jackie 'Robinson ' Santilli that short hopped the left field fence. Doubles from Brendan "Big Red' Morris and Conner'Boomer' McDermott helped the Snug post 4 and they never looked back. Jack Santilli closed things out for Snug by striking out 6 in the lastt 2 innings.
A lead off hit by the Cruz Diamonds catcher Grif Moriarty in the bottom of the 6th kept fans in their seats but Santilli K'd the final 3 helping the Snug advance to the next round.
The Cruz team should be proud of their succesful 2007 season. They are a great team and a wonderful group of boys.
