A great game played by two good teams. The game was a lot closer than the score indicates. Lots of great hitting including a huge homer from Allied's Stephen Townsend and great fielding including a dramatic behind the back catch by Hedlund's shortstop Oliver Murray-Brown and solid catching behind the plate by Hedlund's John Lastoria. Both teams were hitting machines despite good pitching by Hedlund's Drew Roland(62) and Andrew Spaziani(61) as well as Allied's Finn Powell(30), Conall Mannion(49), and Nathan Townsend(60). Good win for Team Reebok over a solid Hedlund Senators team on a hot Friday night, and the score doesn't reflect how close this game was for the first three innings, with the Senators jumping out to an early 1-0 lead. The Senators made a great play and throw by Peter Vargo in right field to the catcher Drew Rowland tagging out the runner at home on an inning-ending play. On another great defensive play Ronan Kelley grabbed a rocket off the bat of Reebok's Brett Tivnan and threw him out at second. Peter Vargo also had two great hits for the Senators. | The Snug 18 vs. Hedlund Senators 3 | Minor League | Hingham - Hersey Field | Sat, Jun 02, 9:00 AM |
A hot and humid day at Hersey field was the back drop for this game between the Hedlund Senators and the upstart Snug Mariners. A pitchers duel for 3 innings between Senators Spaziani (who struck out 5 "Half-Pints" in the first 2 innings) and Greg Williamson and Jack Santilli of the Snug ( who combined for 6 strikeouts through 3 innings) Once again the Snug red-hot bats came alive in the 3rd and 4th innins scoring 15 runs on 12 hits. Charlie Stack 'the deck' and Sam 'speedy' Lincoln's patience at the plate payed off and each scored 3 of the Snug's 18 runs. Hitting stars for Snug were Greg 'big W' Williamson and Jackie 'Robinson' Santilli who each went an impressive 4 for 4. Hitting stars for the Senators were Spaziani, Stanely and Brodey who each went 2 for 2. A side note to the game was that both teams looked very good during the annual picture day and it was agreed by all the mom's in attendance that the managers of these 2 fine teams are by far the best looking in the league. Pitch count Snug- Williamson 39, Santilli 76 Hedlund Spaziano-70, Vargo-79, Kellen-2 |
