Gilbert Trash the 2009 Major League Champions
Congratulations to the players and coaches of Gilbert Trash as they won the 2009 Major League Championship. In an exciting series againt Cold Stone Creamery, Gilbert came up with two wins to secure the title. Both games proved to be exciting pitcher's duals. Congratulations also to the Cold Stone Creamery for their never quit attitude

In the first game of the finals on June 25'th Gilbert prevailed 4-1. Coldstone's, Brett Tivnan pitched four innings striking out 12, giving up one run. Jack Santilli came in relief. Coldstone's only run came when Tivnan walked in the fifth and then was knocked in on Ryan Maguire double up the middle. Pitching for The Trashmen Austin Irvin went five strong innings, striking out 11 and also giving up only one run. The Trashers turned to small ball by Henry Smith and Austin Irving followed by a hit by Andrew Spaziani that got three runs across in the sixth. David Hutchins closed it out for the save.

Game two on Friday, June 26'th proved to be another pitchers’ duel. Cold Stone got on the board first with a long leadoff home run by Chad Fahey in the top of the first.
Zack Silva pitched very well, going five innings, striking out 11, walking only two and giving up just two runs.

The Trashmen responded in the first on an infield hit by David Hutchins who was then knocked in by a hit by Henry Smith.
Robert Hutchins got on and was driven in by a hard double to left from brother David Hutchins. After giving up the leadoff homer, David struck out 15 and didn't allow aother hit.
Robert Hutchins, in relief, struck out the final three batters.
