Don't push water from fields onto grass
I know this may sound simple but no one should push, shovel, rake or sweep water from infields to the grass. It kills the grass. The proper method is to pump off standing water with the hand or electric pumps then dry or roll the dryer over the wet area. After you remove as much water as you can, spread quick dry over the soil to finish the absorption. Do not dump 4-5 bags on one spot it will do nothing but waste the drying agent. If it can't be dried the game gets cancelled. You can't show up at a field 30 mins before game time and hope to get it in game condition. Sorry that's baseball

Field Decorum and Maintenace
Only three adult manager/coaches are allowed in a dugout for a game. Only the manager or his designee is to address an umpire. Teams playing games are entitled to the field one half hour before game time for warm ups/pre game. Please be off the field and out of the dugout if practicing one half hour before a game. Whenever you leave a field, please rake the infield, plate, and mounds (from the grass area into the dirt area). When you are done using the field replace the tarps. Infield material that is added to fill in the holes that are dug without raking, over time will require that the plate be raised. and will form lips on the edge of the infield and baselines. (from Randy Sylvester, Highway Dept.) We spent 4,000 dollars on the infields this spring. This will all go to waste if the fields are not raked after each use.

TARPS on Fields
We have or will have tarps on Fields. These are to be placed everytime you leave a field unless another coach asks you to leave them off because he is following your session. Tarps left on the grass will kill the grass. We spend thousands of dollars trying to grow grass and hindres of dollars on tarps to keep water from flooding and washing out fields.

NO ON DECK SWINGING BATS
Reminder to all managers, coaches and parents. Little League Rules prohibit the swinging of bats in any ondeck area or cage. This is a safety issue and has been the cause of more injuries than any other single cause. On Deck batters should be told to not pick up a bat until they go to the plate. Please help us keep our kids safe.

Buying a Bat - Read This
It has been brought to the attention of Little League officials that there are a few bats for sale in stores or that may have already been purchased that carry the Little League approval, but do not have the required bat performance standard markings. The Little League Rulebook states that beginning January 1, 2009, all non-wood bats used for play in Little League Baseball (majors and below) shall be printed with a bat performance factor (BPF) of 1.15 or less. While the bats we have identified pass the BPF standard and other standards of proportion and measurement, they do not have the proper label. These bats are in the marketplace for a variety of circumstances. After review by Little League officials, it has been determined that these bats may remain in the marketplace and shall be allowed for play during the 2009 season only, with the understanding that these bats shall not be allowed for play after December 31, 2009, even though some improperly labeled bats may still remain in the marketplace, or retained by leagues and players after the 2010 deadline. Also, check the model you are purchasing. If these bats, like the Vanquish, are replaced with corrected labeling, and have the BPF 1.15 label, they will be allowed after 2009.

Specifically, the bats in question are as follow:

Adidas Vanquish Blue design (There is a newer model of this bat, also named the Vanquish and it has copper and black markings. It contains the proper labeling and therefore is not subject to the one-year rule).

DeMarini Black Coyote
Rogue
Distance
Rumble
Tengu

Easton LZ-810

Louisville Slugger YB31

Lost and Found
As is the case every season, we have many lost and found items which will be posted on the Lost and Found menu on this site. The loss of a glove can ruin a season for one of our young players. We STRONGLY urge each player to follow the number 1 Rule in Baseball: put your name and phone number on precious possessions. Please check periodically and email and Elliot Sherman if you have an item which has been lost or found and it will be posted. A number of items have also been turned in to the concession stand at LYNCH field. Thanks for your help.
